Bounties

Putting a price on a player's head, cashing in a bounty, buying back your own or protecting yourself.

A player stole your base, killed your friend, or dominates the leaderboard a little too much? Put a price on their head. The money you commit becomes a bounty: the first one to kill them cashes it in. Conversely, every player with a bounty on their head is a profitable target.

Placing a bounty

CommandEffect
/bountyOpens the bounty menu (browse, place, track).
/bounty <player>Directly opens the menu to place a bounty on that player.
/bounty setOpens the placement menu, where you pick your target.
/bounty <player> <amount>Directly places a bounty of that amount (a confirmation is shown).

The amount is taken from your money when you place the bounty, after a confirmation. The rules:

RuleValue
Minimum amount1
Several bounties on the same targetyes: they add up
Placing a bounty on yourselfpossible
Placing a bounty on an offline playerpossible
Server-wide announcementfor any bounty of at least 5
Bounty taxnone

A bounty cannot be taken back once placed: think before confirming.

Cashing in a bounty

Kill the player with the price on their head: all the bounties placed on them go to you, and the whole server hears about it. Two exceptions:

  • you cannot cash in the bounty of a member of your faction;
  • you cannot cash in the bounty of a player from an allied faction.

A bounty is a way to get others to do your work. On a well-defended target, several small bounties from different players end up attracting hunters.

Finding targets

  • /bounty list shows all bounties in chat.
  • /bounty check <player> details the bounties placed on a player, and by whom.
  • From 100, the target wears a WANTED tag above their head, with the amount (it disappears when the target sneaks).
  • When a bounty passes 25,000, the target glows for 10 seconds.
  • On the website, the Most wanted page (/most-wanted) ranks the most hunted players and factions, and the bounties page (/bounties) lists them live.

To track down a specific target, there are tracking compasses and posters: see /wiki/bounty-trackers.

Buying back your own bounty

Tired of being hunted? /bounty buy buys back the bounty on your head for three times its value. Expensive, but final for the current bounties.

Immunity

You can buy immunity with /bounty immunity <amount>. It works as a threshold: once you have spent an amount on immunity, nobody can place a bounty on you that is lower than or equal to that amount. You can stack purchases to raise the threshold.

CommandEffect
/bounty immunity <amount>Buys immunity (the amount is added to the threshold).
/bounty immunity removeRemoves the immunity you bought.

Right after a bounty is claimed, the target also gets a short grace period (10 seconds) during which nobody can put a price on their head again.

Bounty hunts

A hunt announces a target to the whole server for a limited time; players join it to track the target down together.

CommandEffect
/bounty huntOpens the hunt menu.
/bounty hunt <player> <time>Starts a hunt on a player.
/bounty hunt join <player>Joins an ongoing hunt.
/bounty hunt leave <player>Leaves a hunt.
/bounty hunt listLists active hunts.

Announcements

Every bounty placed or claimed is announced in chat. If these messages clutter your chat, /bounty bdc turns off the broadcast of bounties that don't concern you. Notification details can also be set in /notif (see /wiki/notifications).
