Private messages
Write to a player in game with /msg, from the website or the app, and talk to your faction outside the game.
Contents
You can write privately to a player in game, on the website or from the mobile app: it's the same messaging system. A message sent in game can be read on the website, and vice versa.
In game
| Command | Aliases | Effect |
|---|---|---|
/msg <player> <message> | /m, /w, /tell, /pm, /whisper, /mp | Sends a private message. |
/r <message> | /reply, /repondre | Replies to the last player who wrote to you (or whom you wrote to). |
Private messages show with the [MP] prefix. Tip: clicking a name in chat prepares
/msg <username> for you (see Chat).
What happens next:
- if the recipient is online, they get your message right away;
- the message is also passed to the website: if your recipient has a linked web account, they find it in their messaging, on the website or on their phone, even if they weren't in game.
Good to know — A conversation is only kept on the website if at least one of the two players has a linked web account.
On the website and in the app
The website's Messages page (your account menu) gathers your conversations. It requires a linked Minecraft account.
- Start a conversation: New conversation button then search for the username, or the Send a message button on a player's page.
- Search within a conversation, see unread messages, your contact's online status.
- If your recipient is in game, your message reaches them in chat; they can reply with
/r.
The PVPFaction Connect mobile app gives access to the same messaging, with a push notification for each message (adjustable).
Formatting
Colours, gradients and emojis in website messages are reserved for players with a rank: see Ranks.
Your faction's channels
In messaging, the Faction mode opens your faction's channels:
| Channel | Who can write |
|---|---|
| Faction | all members |
| Alliance | members, with allied factions |
| Truce | members, with factions in truce |
| Officers | officers and the leader only |
These channels are connected to the game: what you write on the website arrives in the in-game faction chat, and what's written in game shows up on the website. Handy for coordinating a defence from your phone.
Who can write to you
In Settings › Privacy on the website, choose who can send you private messages: everyone, your friends, your faction or allied factions. To keep a player at a distance, block them: see Friends and blocking and Privacy and data.
Privacy
The content of private messages is encrypted in the website's database, and the team doesn't read it: a message is only looked at following a report. Messages are deleted automatically after a while; the details are in the privacy policy.
