Combat at a glance
Everything that frames PvP on PVPFACTION, from combat tagging to bounties, on one page.
Contents
On PVPFACTION, PvP is part of the game as soon as you leave protected areas. What is allowed depending on the territory (wilderness, warzone, allied or enemy faction land) is explained in the Factions section, especially /wiki/claims. Several mechanics frame fights so that a fight ends with a real victory, not with a well-timed disconnect or teleport. This page sums them up; each topic has its own detailed page.
The mechanics at a glance
| Mechanic | In short | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Combat tag | For 15 seconds after a hit, you can neither teleport nor log out without dying. | /wiki/combat-tag |
| Newbie protection | A new player is protected from PvP for their first 10 minutes. | /wiki/newbie-protection |
| Weekend 1.8 PvP | From Friday to Sunday, combat has no attack cooldown. | /wiki/old-pvp |
| Death | You lose part of your money, and your inventory goes into a grave. | /wiki/death |
| Graves | Your gear waits ten minutes where you fell… and anyone can loot it. | /wiki/graves |
| Graveyards | You respawn at the nearest graveyard you have discovered, in a sanctuary with no PvP. | /wiki/graveyards |
| Bounties | Put a price on a player's head, or cash in on others. | /wiki/bounties |
What to remember before your first fight
- Dealing or taking a hit tags you. A red "COMBAT" bar and a timer appear: while it runs, no teleporting, and only a few commands remain available.
- Logging out in combat means dying. You are killed on the spot, exactly as if your opponent had finished you off: you lose your gear and part of your money.
- Golden apples and ender pearls have a cooldown. One golden apple every 30 seconds, one enchanted golden apple every 60 seconds, one pearl every 5 seconds in combat.
- Death is expensive. Between 5 and 10% of your money disappears, and you have to recover your gear by hand from your grave before someone else does.
- Killing the same person over and over is punished. Killing the same player more than five times in twenty seconds gets you kicked from the server, with a warning just before: that is abuse, not PvP.
Tip: every player's health is shown under their name (❤). Check it before engaging; during a fight, the action bar also reminds you of your opponent's health.

Playing fair
An anti-cheat watches fights and ore mining. It never punishes on its own: it alerts the moderation team, who check before acting. What is allowed client-side (mods, macros) is specified in /wiki/allowed-mods. If you receive a sanction you think is unfair, you can appeal it (see /wiki/appeal-a-sanction).
The rules that apply to combat — no cheating, no kill-farming between friends, no abusive escapes — are detailed in the rules: /wiki/server-rules.
