Notifications

The website bell, notifications in game and on your phone, e-mails — and how to set each one.

PVPFACTION can let you know about what concerns you in several places: on the website, in game, on your phone and by e-mail. This page explains each channel and where to set it, so you get what matters without being bothered by the rest.

On the website: the bell

The bell at the top of the website shows your notifications (friend request, follow-up on your report, unlocked achievement, new article…) with the unread count. It updates live while the website is open.

If your Minecraft account is linked and you're in game, the same notification also shows in your chat (with an [Open] link) and in your action bar.

On your phone

With the PVPFaction Connect app (see The mobile app), you get push notifications. In Settings › Privacy on the website:

SettingEffect
Notification for every private messagea push for each private message you receive
Notification for game events that concern mefor example a bounty placed on your head

None of these pushes are sent while you're in game: you already get the information in chat.

By e-mail

In Settings › Privacy, "Receive announcements by email" covers announcements (rules updates, service information). Every announcement e-mail also contains an unsubscribe link.

E-mails tied to your account — address verification, forgotten password, data export — keep coming no matter what: they answer an action on your part.

In game: /notif

/notif (aliases /notifs, /notifications) opens the in-game notification centre. Settings are grouped: Social, Faction, Combat, Economy, Server, Messages and Other.

A few examples of what you can turn on or off:

  • friends: friend online, friend offline, friend requests;
  • chat: @ mentions, messages in the Trade and Recruitment categories;
  • combat: death messages, entering combat, kill streaks;
  • bounties: bounty announcements, bounty placed on you, tracking and bounty hunts;
  • faction: invite received, role change, members leaving;
  • world: grave created or looted, End event announcements, /rtp available again, a player arriving by /rtp near you;
  • server: joins and leaves, sanction announcements, tips;
  • economy: money received.

Click a group, then a notification to turn it on or off (some offer several options). The Do not disturb button mutes every ping at once, without losing your settings.

Tip — The exact list depends on the features enabled on the server: each plugin adds its own notifications to this menu.

Tips

Roughly every 15 minutes, the server slips you a tip in your language (a command worth knowing, a feature to discover). They're adaptive: a tip goes away once you've used the command it presents a few times. You can turn them off in /notif.

Joins and leaves

CommandEffect
/joinmsgShows whose join/leave messages you receive.
/joinmsg on · /joinmsg offShows or hides these messages.
/joinmsg none · faction · allNobody, only your faction, or everyone.

Your friends announce their logins separately: see Friends.

News

When an article is published on the website, online players get a clickable announcement. /actus lists the latest articles. See News.
