Faction zaaps and sieges
Connecting your faction's land to the zaap network, opening it to your allies — and defending it during sieges.
Contents
A faction can place its own zaaps on its territory. They connect its bases to the network, can be shared with allies… and become targets every evening, during sieges.
Placing a faction zaap
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Who can create it | an officer of the faction, or higher rank |
| Where | on the faction's claimed territory |
| Base price | 5,000, paid by the faction bank |
| Size surcharge | 150 per block of portal surface |
| Daily upkeep | 25 per day, paid by the faction bank |
| Number of zaaps | 1 per 10 power points of the faction (at least 1, at most 50) |
Creation works like for a personal zaap: the command gives you a creation stick, you mark two corners of the portal with a right-click, then you confirm.
/zaap faction create <name> <mode> <fee>
The faction bank and faction power are explained in /wiki/faction-bank and /wiki/faction-power.
Who can use it
| Mode | Access |
|---|---|
| Public | everyone (non-members pay the set fee) |
| Protected | faction members, its allies and authorised factions |
| Private | faction members only |
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
/zaap faction setmode <zaap> <mode> | Changes the access mode. |
/zaap faction setfee <zaap> <amount> | Sets the fee paid by non-members. |
/zaap faction ally <zaap> <faction> | Authorises a faction to use this zaap. |
/zaap faction unally <zaap> <faction> | Removes that authorisation. |
Hidden zaaps
A faction zaap can be hidden (paid activation: 500). It then only appears to the faction and its allies, and other players cannot discover it.
Sieges
Every evening, from 6 pm to 10 pm, the siege period opens: faction zaaps can then be attacked and destroyed. Outside this period, they are protected.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Siege period | every day, from 6 pm to 10 pm (server time) |
| Reminders | 30, 15, 5 and 1 minute before it starts |
| Recently placed zaap | protected for 24 hours |
| Explosions | they damage the zaap's durability |
| Who can break a zaap of their own faction | officers and above |
During a siege, members of the attacked faction cannot escape by teleporting: a message reminds them they have to defend their zaaps.
A faction zaap is a huge logistical advantage, but it is also a way in for your enemies if it is public. Choose its access mode carefully, and plan who defends it in the evening.
Losing a zaap's territory
A faction zaap must stay on its faction's territory. If that territory is lost, the faction gets a short grace period (5 minutes) before the zaap becomes capturable by the players around it.
Maintenance
Like personal zaaps, faction zaaps wear out with use and over time, break down below 10% durability and are repaired from their management menu (/wiki/player-zaaps). The daily upkeep is taken from the faction bank.
