Joining the server
Address, Minecraft version, first login and fixes for common problems.
Contents
This page explains how to add PVPFACTION to your server list, what happens on your first login, and what to do if something gets in the way.
What you need
- Minecraft Java Edition on a computer (the server does not accept Bedrock Edition).
- An official Minecraft account.
- No special launcher and no required mod: the vanilla Minecraft client is enough.
The accepted Minecraft version is shown on the website's Join page.
Adding the server
-
Launch Minecraft Java Edition.
-
Open Multiplayer, then Add Server.
-
Give it any name you like, and enter the address:
play.pvpfaction.net -
Confirm, then double-click the server in the list.
Tip — On the website's Join page, a button copies the address for you, and an indicator shows whether the server is online and how many players are connected.
Your first login
The very first time, you don't appear straight in the game world but in the welcome area, a protected platform where the basics are explained and where you receive your starting balance. When you're ready, right-clicking the star drops you into the world. On later logins, you come back where you logged out. Details: Welcome area.
If you turned on two-factor authentication in game
If you asked, on the website, for your two-factor code to also be required in game, the server puts you in a waiting room when you log in. Chat and commands are locked there until you enter:
/2fa <code>
with the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (or a recovery code). Once validated, you join the world. Everything is explained on Two-factor authentication.
Mods and clients
Only mods that give no advantage are tolerated (performance, display, key bindings). Anything that automates combat, sees through blocks or alters your movement is forbidden and sanctioned. The exact list is in Allowed mods.
Proximity voice chat doesn't need any cheat mod: it goes through a dedicated mod, a desktop app or your browser. See Voice chat.
Connection problems
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| "Incompatible version" / "Outdated client" | Launch the Minecraft version shown on the Join page. |
| The server shows as offline | Check the address (play.pvpfaction.net), then the server status on the Join page. Maintenance is announced in the news. |
| You're stuck in a waiting room | In-game two-factor authentication is on for your account: type /2fa <code>. |
| You're refused at login with a reason | That's a sanction. See Sanctions. |
Still stuck? The server's Discord is there to help: its link is in the website footer.
