Talking from your browser
Join voice from the website's Voice page, set up your microphone and pick the right mode.
Contents
The website is a complete voice client: no mod or software to install. All you need is a recent browser, a microphone, and a tab you keep open while you play.
Joining voice
- Log in to the website with an account linked to your Minecraft account.
- Open the Voice page (site menu, or
/voice). - Click Join voice and allow the microphone when your browser asks.
- Connect to the game server: as soon as a player is in range, you can hear each other.
The Around you list shows the players within voice range, and who is talking. The Volume slider sets the overall volume of what you hear.
Tip — Keep the tab open (it can stay in the background): closing it cuts the voice. If you open voice in another tab or on another device, the previous session is disconnected.
The three microphone modes
| Mode | How it works | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Voice-activated | Your voice is sent automatically when you speak | The best choice in game: works even when the tab is not focused |
| Open mic | Your microphone transmits all the time | If you are alone in a quiet room; your background noise is sent too |
| Push-to-talk | Hold Space to talk | Only while the website tab is focused, so not in full-screen play |
The browser's push-to-talk only catches the key while the page is in the foreground: it is a security limit of browsers, which are not allowed to listen to the keyboard of other applications. For real push-to-talk in game, use the desktop app.
Setting up your microphone
The Microphone setup section of the Voice page lets you:
- test your mic: speak normally and watch the level bar move. In Voice-activated mode, your voice is sent when the bar goes past the line;
- hear yourself ("Hear myself" option, with headphones to avoid echo);
- adjust the sensitivity of Voice-activated mode: too high and your keyboard triggers the mic; too low and the start of your sentences gets cut;
- turn on noise suppression, which filters out keyboard, fan or street noise before sending. If your browser does not support it, the site tells you and sends raw audio.
Your microphone status is always shown: "Your voice is being sent", "Picked up, not sent" (nobody in range, or below the threshold), "Waiting for your voice"…
Good habits
- A wired headset if possible: Bluetooth earphones switch to "call" mode as soon as the mic is active, and lose stereo (you can no longer tell which side a voice comes from).
- Run a mic test before your first session: it is the quickest way to check that the right microphone is used and that the level is high enough.
- Nobody in range? The site says so: your voice is then sent to nobody, which is normal.
On your phone
The PVPFaction Connect Android app uses the same voice page, with a button to hold while you talk: handy to keep voice on your phone while you play on your computer.
